What the Internet is saying
I’ve looked all over the Internet for bad reviews and really can’t find any. Reviews are very favorable for this fishfinder. The screen resolution and anti glare ability seem to set this unit ahead of the crowd. I’ve read a few reviews stating the instructions are minimal. I visited the Lowrance website and found extensive documentation on this model, so I’m not really sure what those complaints were about. All-in-all this seems to be a fishfinder with a huge selection of features, fast processor, and great screen. GPS, downscan, and sidescan all seem to function without problems.
This is a pretty standard way of interacting with the unit. You can choose to use the touchscreen or navigate menus with the keys to the right of the unit.
Online reviews are wonderful for this feature. Everyone seems to love the bright screen and says it's very easy to read even in direct sunlight. The color reproduction also appears to be great. There are also additional moisture proof optical layers built into this unit.
This is one of the features that sets it apart from previous models.

The SpotlightScan shows you fish and other objects ahead and around the boat without the boat disturbing them. The trolling motor position sensor ensures that the scan matches up perfectly with the direction of your trolling motor. To use the feature the SpotlightScan transducer must be mounted on your trolling motor and its trolling motor position sensor mounted on the trolling motor foot pedal.
The StructureMap feature overlays SideScan images from a StructureScan source on the map. This makes it easier to visualize the underwater environment in relation to your position, and aids in interpreting SideScan images. For use with StructureScan. StructureScan uses high frequencies to provide a high resolution, picture-like image of the seabed when the StructureScan transducer is connected.
The video function allows you to view videos or camera sources on your system. HDS Carbon supports one video input channel in NTSC or PAL video format.
Simulate a transducer to get a feel for the system before taking it out on the water.
Autopilot ready, with the proper motor and accessories.
Use a wireless device to remotely view and control the system. Currently system can be viewed by a smartphone but must be controlled by a tablet. Also use the wifi connection to download updates and to upload your sonar logs to create custom maps.
